Life in Quarantine

As I sit here to write this, I asked my sisters what to write about. They both looked at me and said, “Our lives are boring. There is nothing to write about.” So I will share a little bit about our daily ‘quarantine’ life!

Most days we wake up, check cows, feed bottle calves, and then get breakfast started. My sisters entertain Little Max while I get some work done. Work includes NDFB, working on the website, and working on the custom meat business. Keep on the lookout for updates on the website! We scheduled our first steer for butcher, so will have meat available come late May! As slow as things seem to be, the days go by quickly!

After morning work, we have some lunch, feed bottle calves, and do some housework. Our bottle calves are some of the entertainment in our days right now. We have two bottle calves, Henrietta and Henry. We are busy calving as well, so we spend time outside checking cows and tagging calves!

With the start of the new business, I am also working on getting pigs to add to the ranch. In between NDFB work and cow things, we use our time to work on the new pig barn/pens. Plus, I’ve been busy trying to get the basement ready for some extra freezers and inspection!

Even though being quarantined with family might drive me crazy at times, I am very blessed and thankful to have my husband home more, my sisters around to help out, and all of us healthy and happy!
