Making Family Traditions

I love being in the chapter of life where we can make our own family traditions. One tradition that we unintentionally started is carving pumpkins with the Visser Family along with eating chili and cinnamon rolls for supper! We didn’t even realize we had started the tradition until some memories popped up that last year we had also had chili and cinnamon rolls while carving pumpkins!

Sheridan makes some great chili so she generously offered to share her recipe with me!

Crockpot Chili

Ingredients:
1 tbs olive oil
1 large yellow onion, fine chopped
3 cloves of finely minced garlic
1 lb ground beef
1 lbs ground pork sausage
1 can dark red kidney beans
1 can light red kidney beans
1 can Ranch Style Beans (chili beans)
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can tomato sauce
1 small can tomato paste
2 cups beef broth
2 packets of your favorite chili seasoning

Add chili powder to taste

Instructions:
Heat olive oil in large and deep non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
Add onion and saute 3 minutes.
Then add garlic and saute 30 seconds longer.
Brown ground beef and sausage with onions and garlic.
Dump into crockpot once cooked.
Add all other ingredients to crockpot and stir.
Cook on low for 5-6 hours covered.

Serve with cheddar cheese, sour cream, and tortilla chips.
